Privacy policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data garethpuckey.co.uk collects, why, who else handles it and what you can do about it.
Who I am
This site is run by me, Gareth Puckey, a digital marketing lead based in the Midlands, UK. I’m the controller of the personal data described here. You can contact me at hello@garethpuckey.co.uk.
What I collect and why
When you visit the site
- Hosting. The site is hosted by WordPress.com, run by Automattic. Like any web server, it receives technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, and keeps logs to deliver the site and keep it secure. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (running a secure website).
- Fonts. The site’s typeface is served by WordPress.com’s font service, which receives your IP address when a page loads. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (displaying the site).
- Analytics, only if you accept. If you choose “Accept analytics”, I use Google Analytics 4 (Google) and WordPress.com stats (Automattic) to count visits, see which pages are read and where visitors come from. Lawful basis: consent. I don’t use them for advertising: Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and no advertising tags run on this site. If you reject, neither loads.
When you email me
If you email me, I receive your email address, your name and whatever you write, and use them to reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (replying to you). I keep emails only as long as I need them to deal with your message.
What I don’t do
- There are no comments, accounts, newsletters or contact forms on this site, so I don’t collect data through them.
- I don’t sell your data or use it to target advertising.
Who else handles your data
- Automattic Inc. (WordPress.com): hosting, security, fonts and, with your consent, site statistics. Automattic privacy policy.
- Google: Google Analytics, with your consent. Google privacy policy.
- My email provider: if you email me.
Automattic and Google may process data in the United States. Where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards for transfers from the UK, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long data is kept
- Server logs and WordPress.com stats: kept by Automattic under its own policy.
- Google Analytics: event data is kept for 14 months, then deleted.
- Emails: only as long as I need them to deal with your message.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- see the personal data I hold about you
- have it corrected
- have it deleted
- restrict how I use it
- object to how I use it, including where I rely on legitimate interests
- receive it in a portable format, where that applies
- withdraw your consent at any time, using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page
To use any of these rights, email hello@garethpuckey.co.uk. I’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, please tell me first and I’ll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
How the site uses cookies and similar technologies is set out in the cookie policy.
